PITT OHIO Honored with Fleet Safety Awards by the American Trucking Association

PITT OHIO announced today that it has been honored with three Fleet Safety Awards from the American Trucking Association (ATA) as well as two at the State Level in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

The ATA presented PITT OHIO with First Place Line haul, Third Place Local/LTL and First Place Industrial Safety. PITT OHIO received First Place honors in the Large Division in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

PITT OHIO driver, Mike Miltenberger, from the company’s Baltimore, Maryland terminal placed first place at the Truck Driving Championships and received the Overall Grand Champion Award for receiving the highest score among all competitors.

PITT OHIO expects the best from its drivers and several received Driver of the Month recognition at the state level for their commitment to safe practices on the highway:

Pennsylvania - James Elias
Ohio - Mike Dzurko
West Virginia - Charles Randolph
West Virginia - Paul Norman

Additionally, Paul Norman received the West Virginia Driver of the Year award at the West Virginia Truck Driving Championships Awards banquet on June 21, 2014. Driver of the Year is determined by the state police after reviewing the winners from all 12 months.

PITT OHIO Receives President Trophy from Ohio Trucking Association

PITT OHIO announced today that they have been awarded the Ohio Trucking Association (OTA) President’s Trophy. The award is recognized as being the highest safety award presented by all carriers that are members of Ohio Trucking Association.

The President’s Trophy is presented by OTA and their Safety Management Council to one carrier in Ohio with the lowest accident frequency.

"I would like to congratulate all the drivers who drive through Ohio for winning this prestigious award," remarked Jeff Mercadante, Vice President of Safety. "This is the first time PITT OHIO has ever won this award and we cannot thank our drivers enough for driving safe on our highways. PITT OHIO Wins 2014 Quest for Quality Awards

Regional LTL, TRUCKLOAD and National LTL receive honor

Pittsburgh, PA (August 6th, 2014) - PITT OHIO wins Logistics Management Magazine’s Quest for Quality Award in three categories, including Regional Less-Than-Truckload Northeast, Truckload and National LTL with The Reliance Network.

For the twentieth time, PITT OHIO has earned a spot in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) category. The results, according to the magazine, align with what many analysts believe to be true – that the top regional carriers like PITT OHIO have done the best job over the past 12 months of maintaining top service levels. 2014 marks the ninth year in a row that PITT OHIO has earned a spot on the regional LTL Quest for Quality list.

For the second year in a row, ECM TRANSPORT, PITT OHIO’s Truckload carrier received an award, placing third among eleven other carriers. According to the magazine, Logistics Management readers confirm that Truckload carriers on the Quest for Quality list, like ECM TRANSPORT, continue to offer top service despite mounting operational pressures

For the first time, a network of LTL regional carriers, The Reliance Network (TRNet) won a national LTL Quest for Quality award. The Reliance Network posted the top score for Value in this transportation category. According to the magazine, the long-haul LTL’s on the list like The Reliance Network are doing a stellar job of juggling the challenges while maintaining world-class service levels.

The Quest for Quality Awards are voted on by readers of Logistics Management magazine and are regarded as one of the most important measures of customer satisfaction and performance excellence. Recipients have received the "ultimate vote of confidence," with winners posting the highest scores in the various criteria. The five criteria are on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service, and equipment and operations.

These 2014 awards bring PITT OHIO’s overall grand total to 32 Quest for Quality Awards in the categories of Regional LTL, National LTL, Expedited and Truckload.

PITT OHIO‚ a transportation solutions provider, has been named the Grainger 2013 Carrier of the Year. PITT OHIO was presented with the Partners in Performance Award at Grainger’s annual supplier conference held recently in Rosemont, Illinois.

Grainger's Partners in Performance Award recognizes suppliers who achieve excellence in several categories, including on-time shipping, responsiveness, cost effectiveness, and product quality. Suppliers are rated throughout the year, and judged on their overall performance and improvement.

TRNet Carriers and Customer Toshiba win Alliance Award

World Trade 100 magazine a leading transportation industry publication, and SMC³, an industry trade association, have awarded PITT OHIO, its TRNet affiliate Averitt Express and customer Toshiba with an Alliance Award in the Domestic Freight Single Mode category.

PITT OHIO and Averitt developed a Shipment Consolidation and Pool Distribution Program in an effort to reduce damage claims for customer Toshiba. In addition to reducing damages by over 50%, the collaborative solution resulted in a 15 percent overall cost savings and increased delivery efficiency. The solution also reduced diesel fuel by 125,000 gallons which equates to a reduction of carbon dioxide by approximately 1,099 tons.

The Alliance awards program, now in its second year, recognizes excellence in supply chain performance resulting from the close cooperation and collaboration of supply chain partners. Awarded in five distinct categories, The Alliance looks at more than the outcome of the supply chain partnerships; it also examines the dynamic partnerships that were formed to drive results. A panel of distinguished judges examined the role of each of the partners and the contributions their individual and collective efforts made to solving a supply chain problem or driving change and continuous improvement in a supply chain.
