To determine their annual winners, Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine combs through nominations as well as press releases and stories they have run. They look at fleets’ long-term commitment to sustainability but also pay special attention to new initiatives. They look for companies that are acting as leaders in their industry, participating in pilot projects and testing new technologies, and sharing what they’ve learned with others.

PITT OHIO Wins American Trucking Associations’ President’s Trophy

PITT OHIO, a leader in regional and national logistics services, announced today the receipt of the prestigious American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) President’s Trophy in the Over 100 Million Miles category. This marks the seventh time PITT OHIO has received this award; winning every year the company has been eligible.

The ATA President’s Trophy is the highest safety award available to motor carriers in the United States and is presented annually to only three motor carriers to win. A company is judged to be outstanding on the basis of its safety record, program and community outreach activities by top motor carrier safety professionals as well as commercial vehicle enforcement personnel.

“This was truly a team effort,” Jim Fields, PITT OHIO’s Chief Operating Officer stated. “Our operations, safety and vehicle maintenance teams work together to keep safety in the forefront of every second, minute, hour and day for everything we do.”

Due to the company’s growth, PITT OHIO was elevated to the over 100 Million Miles Category for the first time.

PITT OHIO Receives President Trophy from Ohio Trucking Association

PITT OHIO announced today that they have been awarded the Ohio Trucking Association (OTA) President’s Trophy. The award is recognized as being the highest safety award presented by all carriers that are members of Ohio Trucking Association.

PITT OHIO announced today the receipt of 2 Logistics Management Quest for Quality Awards in the categories of Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional LTL and Expedite. The Quest for Quality Awards are the gold standard for customer satisfaction and performance excellence for carriers, ports, and logistics providers worldwide.

For the twenty-fifth time, PITT OHIO has earned a spot in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) category. PITT OHIO’s expedite service, Fast Track, earned a spot for the 12^th time among national carriers.

These 2019 awards bring PITT OHIO’s overall grand total to 41 Quest for Quality Awards in the categories of Regional LTL, National LTL, Expedited and Truckload.

PITT OHIO Named 2019 Inbound Logistics Leading Green Supply Chain Supplier

PITT OHIO, a leader in regional and national logistics services and sustainability in the transportation industry, has been named a 2019 Green Supply Chain Partner by Inbound Logistics Magazine.

The publication Inbound Logistics selects the G75 Green Supply Chain winners based on four benchmarks: sustainability innovation, measurable green results, continuous improvement and industry recognition. The G75 list is released annually and highlights the strides companies are taking to make sure the footprint they leave on the world is a positive one.

Most recently, PITT OHIO has implemented trash compactors at its Baltimore, Columbus, Harrisburg, Norristown, Pittsburgh and Richmond terminals. The Pittsburgh terminal compactor specifically, has reduced trash pickup from two to three times a week to one pickup every five to seven weeks, minimizing the amount of waste sent to landfills.

PITT OHIO’s next sustainability step is the completion of their Cleveland Terminal. The new construction terminal located in Parma, OH is currently LEED certified and will be equipped with an upgraded micro-grid system, powered by 1500 Solar Panels and 8 wind turbines.

PITT OHIO Launches Delivery Track

PITT OHIO, a leader in regional and national logistics services and sustainability in the transportation industry, announced today the ability for customers to track the truck carrying their freight in real time online. Shippers receive an estimated time of arrival (ETA) from the software the company has named Delivery Track.

The new application, using sophisticate data mining techniques, ties the shipment to the truck to show its location along the delivery route, providing real time ETA updates along with a graphical display.

“We focus on technology to make shipping easier for our customers,” said Scott Sullivan, PITT OHIO’s Chief Financial and Information Officer. “Delivery Track uses the latest technology advancements to allow customers to prepare for the shipment delivery. In this case, Delivery Track puts the power of the information in the customer hands eliminating back office costs by removing numerous phone calls between PITT OHIO and the customer. Using this application, shippers gain faster visibility when needed throughout the day.”

Customers will see a “Delivery Track” link on www.pittohio.com appear on PITT OHIO’s Shipment Tracing tool when the shipment status is listed as “Out for Delivery”.

PITT OHIO named a 2018 Top Green Fleet by Heavy Duty Trucking

Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT), a comprehensive publication that covers commercial, heavy truck fleet news, has recognized PITT OHIO as one of its Top 25 Green Fleets of 2018. The list showcases 25 of the most fuel-efficient, environmentally conscientious, alternative-fuel-forward fleets in the U.S.

HDT looks at long-term commitment to sustainability, but also pays special attention to new initiatives. They look for companies that are acting as leaders in their industry, promoting fuel efficiency and alternative fuels, participating in pilot projects and testing new technologies.

PITT OHIO monitors mpg and load factor to make the most out of every mile its trucks drive and out of each gallon of biodiesel its trucks use. It’s also incorporating compressed natural gas trucks, and adding trailer skirts, and is partnering with the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering to research and develop electric vehicles.
