PITT OHIO Wins Three Commercial Real Estate Development Association Awards

Pittsburgh, PA (December 9, 2021) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation and logistics services, announced their LEED Gold Certified Cleveland terminal and warehouse received three Commercial Real Estate Development Association Awards. The Northern Ohio Chapter held their award ceremony on November 10, 2021 and honored PITT OHIO with the following awards:

Construction Project of the Year (Rycon Construction, Inc.)
Architectural Design Project of the Year (McGill Smith Punshon, Inc.)
Innovation Project of the Year (Rycon Construction, Inc.)

PITT OHIO completed construction of its state-of-the-art LEED Gold Certified terminal, which includes an office and warehouse space, and the company’s maintenance shop in Parma, Ohio. The entire complex spans 111,000 square feet and sits on 23.65 of developed acres in Parma, Ohio.

PITT OHIO Driver Bill Nearhoof Named DNC Insurance Driver of the Year

PITT OHIO Named 2021 LTL Regional Carrier of the Year by Penske

PITT OHIO Renovates Park in Parma, Ohio

Pittsburgh, PA (October 26, 2021) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation and logistics services, completed renovations of Miller Park Playground in Parma, Ohio. The park sits on Aaron Drive, .5 miles from PITT OHIO’s Cleveland trucking terminal building.

PITT OHIO relocated its operation to Parma, Ohio in 2020 and constructed a state-of-the-art, LEED Gold Certified complex equipped with sustainable features benefiting its employees, customers and community. PITT OHIO has maintained a presence in the Greater Cleveland area since 1979.

“Strong neighborhoods make strong communities and sustainable futures,” said Jim Maug, PITT OHIO’s Director Building Maintenance and Property Management. “It is a part of our culture here at PITT OHIO to give back to the communities where we do business. These are the neighborhoods where our employees live.

Much of the $75,000 investment to complete the project was a result of donations. “We have built strong business relationships in the communities around us when we locally sourced many of our contractors, vendors and supplies when building our terminal,” said Maug. “It is in these relationships that we found a willingness to give back, and through fundraising requests, collected donations from many of these contractors and vendors.”

Volunteers from PITT OHIO and its partners completed the renovations on October 6, 2021, including: a play area with swings, diggers and more, a picnic area with charcoal grills, picnic tables and benches, and improved landscaping including grove of trees, floral plantings and greenery.

“The City of Parma and our recreation department take pride in developing partnerships on behalf of our residents,” Parks & Recreation Director Mickey Vittardi said. “We would like to thank PITT OHIO for their extreme generosity in the renovation of Miller Park.”

“Besides opening their state-of-the-art trucking terminal in our city, PITT OHIO is investing in our neighborhoods,” Mayor Tim DeGeeter said. “We appreciate PITT OHIO and all their donors for making this happen and working with our recreation department. I personally know the neighborhood is excited about the upgrades and completion of the park. I thank them for their partnership.”

The Quest for Quality Awards are the gold standard for customer satisfaction and performance excellence for carriers, ports, and logistics providers worldwide.

For the twenty-seventh time, PITT OHIO has earned a spot in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Regional LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) category, earning first place honors from the customer votes for the second year in a row.

Sustainable PITT OHIO Buildings Received LEED Gold Certifications

Pittsburgh, PA (July 27, 2021) - A PITT OHIO terminal, which includes an office and warehouse space, and the company’s maintenance shop in Parma, Ohio have received enough points to officially certify both locations as LEED Gold. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, Certification requires a building to meet certain sustainability standards in water, energy, and material usage efficiency, all of which the two buildings have met and surpassed.

The 95,765 square foot terminal/office/warehouse earned enough points to achieve the Gold Level Certification in seven of the seven LEED Categories including, Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation & Design, and Regional Priority Credits. The 15,000 square foot maintenance shop earned points in seven categories as well. Out of a possible 60 points needed to obtain a Gold ranking, the terminal/office/warehouse received 68 points and the maintenance shop received 72 points on the LEED scale.

The entire complex, located at located at 5570 Chevrolet Blvd Parma, OH 44130, spans 111,000 square feet and sits on 23.65 of developed acres. The buildings were constructed from locally sourced materials and recycled content. The entire site uses sustainable landscaping including bioswales, or man-made elements placed to remove pollutants and dirt from runoff, and drought tolerant native plants to cut down on water usage and prevent flooding. Low-flow appliances and fixtures are also projected to save over 30% of the water that conventional fixtures would use in the same buildings.

The terminal utilizes a low-emitting Energy Star roof positioned to reflect the highest percentage of the sun’s rays, cooling the surrounding area and lowering air conditioning costs. A geothermal well was put in place to utilize the Earth’s temperature as a heat source in the winter and a heat sink in the summer. 686 LED lights are used in replacement of incandescent, which run on a microgrid generated by wind and solar and stored on site.

PITT OHIO installed eight Windstax wind turbines at the entrance and over 1,500 solar panels on the roof. The wind and solar energy is stored in a battery system and distributed to points of use, a process PITT OHIO patented in 2020. Wind and solar production combined with massive energy storage capacity allows the terminal to function autonomously, independent of the grid, essentially indefinitely.

PITT OHIO’s terminal in Pittsburgh, PA was the first trucking terminal in the country with LEED Gold projects.

Forbes Names PITT OHIO One of America's Best Midsize Employers

Pittsburgh, PA (July 19, 2021) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services has been named among America's Best Employers by Forbes Magazine for the first time, ranking number 328 out of the 500 companies listed.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to compile the list by surveying 50,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Participants were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family, and to nominate organizations other than their own. The final list ranks the 500 large and 500 midsize employers that received the most recommendations.

PITT OHIO Releases 2020 Sustainability Report

PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services, released its 2020 sustainability report, highlighting 2020 accomplishments and breakthroughs from the last 10 years. Maximizing fuel efficiency, green buildings and renewable energy continue to be the focus.

The report includes the company’s response to Covid-19, including shipping supplies for customers, implementing new policies, and securing technology to allow employees to telecommute. Notably in the report is the US patent for the renewable energy DC powered microgrid, new facilities in Cleveland and Indianapolis, and electric trucks which will be further explored in 2021.

Atlanta, GA (April 20, 2021) - Adam Walker, CEO & President of Summit Packaging Solutions, an award-winning supply chain and contract packaging company, announced it has completed a recapitalization of the business with PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services, which will support Summit’s growth strategy. The capital raise will provide Summit with a long-term, well-capitalized strategic partner that will enable the business to expand into new markets and invest in next-generation customer experience technologies that help clients reduce supply chain time and inventory, respond to their customers faster, and return capital back in their hands.
