PITT OHIO, a leader in regional and national logistics services, has been selected by Global Trade Magazine as one of America’s Leading Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers for the first time.  The report features companies that excel in areas of versatility, innovation, green initiatives, technology and other specialized services.  PITT OHIO made the Expedited list. 

Global Trade works in partnership Armstrong & Associates, a leader in supply chain market research and consulting, to conduct research and select 105 leading 3PLs within 10 distinct needs-based categories. The “America’s Leading 3PLs” list recognizes companies that uniquely exceed manufacturers’ specific needs and aid as a resource for supply chain executives who depend on third-party logistics providers.

“It’s a measure of the quickly growing/changing/evolving global marketplace that arguably the most critical industry serving it, Third Party Logistic Providers (3PLs), continues to grow, change and evolve at a dizzying pace,” writes Global Trade senior editor Steve Lowery in the issue’s introduction.  “That evolution has been chronicled over the years in this, our annual Top 3PL issue, as we have, over that time, written about such things as an increasing emphasis and reliance on technology, the constant march toward transparency and, most recently, the increasing pace of acquisitions and consolidations.”

As in previous issues, 100 of the best, biggest and brightest 3PLs were divided into various categories denoting various service expertise and company strengths.  Companies were chosen based on a year’s worth of study that included their reputation in the industry and new initiatives and/or services provided, as well as exceptional excellence in doing what they do.
