Pittsburgh, PA (August 16, 2022) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services, announced they will be sending 4 of its drivers to compete at the American Trucking Associations National Truck & Step Driving Championships. The competition, recognizing the safest drivers in the country, will take place August 16-19 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

PITT OHIO’s safety program is highly regarded within the industry. A recipient of the President’s Trophy 7 times and multiple awards in states covering the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions, the company’s commitment to safety both on and off the road has prepared these drivers well for the qualifying state competition and the National Championship. Nineteen PITT OHIO drivers competed at the state level to qualify for nationals; 4 qualified by placing 1st in their respective categories.

Maryland

  • Brandon Hose, from the company’s Cumberland terminal, earned the first-place finish in the 5-Axle Class Competition. This will be Brandon’s first appearance at the National Competition. “Driving a truck is something I’ve always looked forward to.  Given the opportunity to drive for a company that provides its drivers with the best in the business is more than I could ask for. PITT OHIO definitely stands out from the rest, with great pay, great benefits and a positive family friendly atmosphere. I enjoy working for PITT OHIO as they always encourage safety. Safety is always my first priority. Getting home safe to my family is at the top of the list. The support that is provided to ensure the best out of each and every one of their employees is like no other. Through proper training and practice, PITT OHIO strives to be the best team on the road. Without PITT OHIO’s continued effort and support, none of this would have ever been possible. It is a great honor to be representing PITT OHIO at the NTDC as the state of Maryland 5 axle van champion.”

  • Daniel Seekford, from the company’s Cumberland terminal, finished in first place in the Straight Truck Competition, earning the highest score in the Pre-Trip Competition. “Every day as I put on my uniform I feel a sense of pride, prepared to fulfill the mission of providing the very best quality of service to our customers while meeting their every need.  Safety, in my opinion, is paramount to fulfill this mission. Preparing us for the national stage has been a group effort. The support we have received from management and previous state champions has been so beneficial. I appreciate the sacrifice they are making to help us prepare for Indianapolis. I am looking forward to a lifelong career serving as an ambassador for this great company. I also want to extend a special thanks to my dad for volunteering at the state competition and for being one of my most enthusiastic supporters.”

  • Cole Miltenberger, from the company’s Cumberland terminal, finished in first place in the 4-Axle Class Competition, earning the Rookie of the Year award for receiving the highest score among all of the first-time competitors in Maryland. “To be a PITT OHIO Driver means to be safety conscious in personal as well as my company vehicle. PITT OHIO’s safety program is top notch by providing most up to date technology and equipment and the best one on one personal training from veteran award-winning employees. The apprenticeship program I was trained through gave me benchmark goals to complete each year. I began as a part time dock worker and worked to a Class A City Driver. Learning along the way the safest, most efficient way to provide to our customers and return home safely to my family.”

West Virginia

  • Charles Randolph, from the company’s Charleston, WV terminal, earned the first-place finish in the Straight Truck Competition. This will Randolph’s fifth time competing on the national stage.

Collectively as a team, the PITT OHIO drivers in Maryland and West Virginia earned the highest scores out of all of the companies competing in their respective states, winning their states’ Team Trophy! Additionally, Cleveland Driver Phil Gamella received the Chairman’s Award for earning top honors for performance and professionalism in Ohio.

The Truck Driving Championships, a 3-day competition, is an opportunity for professional truck drivers to demonstrate their driving skills and safety expertise. The event includes a difficult driving-skills challenge, pre-trip inspection and written examination covering vehicle operation and knowledge of federal safety regulations.

I would like to congratulate Brandon, Charles, Cole and Dan for making it to the National Truck Driving Championships, the most prestigious driving event in the trucking industry,” said PITT OHIO’s Manager of Training and Development, Dean Yockey. “All four drivers are true professionals and have the ability to win as a class championship. All of your hard work has paid off!  Good Luck and enjoy your time in Indianapolis!  Go Team PITT OHIO!”
