PITT OHIO’s Jim Fields Named A Truck Fleet Innovator of the Year by Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine
Pittsburgh, PA (May 24, 2022) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services, announced today that its Chief Operating Officer, Jim Fields, has been named a 2022 Truck Fleet Innovator of the Year by Heavy Duty Trucking (HDT) magazine. HDT's Truck Fleet Innovators will accept their awards during Heavy Duty Trucking Exchange in September.
According to Heavy Duty Trucking magazine, each year editors review nominations to select fleet executives who have consistently shown innovation in areas such as leadership, productivity, business practices, safety, maintenance, spec'ing, technology, human resources, fuel efficiency and the environment.
Heavy Duty Trucking Editor in Chief, Deborah Lockridge, said, “HDT’s editors have been intrigued for several years now by PITT OHIO’s innovative solar and turbine system. Jim Fields impressed us by taking a different approach to the question of fleet sustainability. One of the big challenges when you look at the big picture of zero-emission trucks is the charging infrastructure, and whether the electricity powering them is truly green. Jim’s facility-first approach to reducing the company’s carbon footprint means its new Class 7 battery-electric box trucks in Cleveland will be supported by renewable energy.”
“It is both exciting and encouraging to see our vision of Sustainability come together with our facility, energy generation, and fleet technology at our Cleveland, Ohio terminal,” said Fields. “This has been a long time- consuming process, and all of the key stakeholders have exhibited the utmost patience to see this all come together. Now it’s time to observe, understand, measure and improve what we are doing.”
Fields is the second HDT Fleet Innovator award winner for PITT OHIO. President, Chuck Hammel, received the honor in 2007.
