Community Involvement - Employee Supported Charities - "People Driven"

As part of PITT OHIO’s overall Mission Statement and a shared dedication from the owner and the employees, our efforts go beyond dollars raised by our company. PITT OHIO holds an annual fundraising event to support our two corporate charities. This is an important pillar in building our Sustainable Culture. Our efforts also support many organizations through fundraising, employee contributions and volunteering…because we believe in “doing the right thing.”

PITT OHIO’s Rock & Bowls

PITT OHIO accomplishes phenomenal fundraising results at our Rock & Bowl events because of our employees, their friends and family, and our vendors.  Since 2013, PITT OHIO has raised over $407,000 for Autism Speaks and The Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which is split between the two charities each year.

PITT OHIO’s Monte Carlos (2007-2012)

From 2007-2012, through the generosity of our employees, their friends and family, and some of our vendors, PITT OHIO raised over $89,000 for our two corporate charities, Autism Speaks & The Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

PITT OHIO’s Corporate Office and Terminals also do smaller types of fundraising activities such as bake sales, raffles and t-shirt sales that help to support these great causes.

Autism Speaks

Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S. and the prevalence figures are growing. Autism now affects 1 in 36 children. PITT OHIO’s efforts and hard work has helped to grow Autism awareness.

PITT OHIO is "On the Road for The Cure." Our employees have been raising money for Autism Research since 2000. PITT OHIO became involved with Autism Speaks through one of our employees, who is the proud father of two sons on the Autism Spectrum. These two boys, along with the other children of our employees who would benefit from this research, motivate PITT OHIO each year to raise more and more money for research.

Since its first walk in 2000, PITT OHIO employees have participated in the Walk Now For Autism Speaks, held annually in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 2009, PITT OHIO expanded its support for Autism Speaks to its terminals by participating in walks across the company´s footprint.

Pittsburgh held the first walk for autism in the year 2000, and now, over 20 years later, there are over 100 walks nationwide!

Since 2000, PITT OHIO employees have donated over $500,000 to Autism Speaks.

Since 2009, PITT OHIO has been a supporter of The Boys & Girls Clubs of America. In addition to monetary donations, PITT OHIO employees volunteer their time to help foster the clubs' mission of enabling all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Since 2009, PITT OHIO employees from our corporate office and 17 terminals have donated a total of $380,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

PITT OHIO began making an annual donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in 1995. A payroll deduction program is used to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes for children diagnosed with terminal illnesses. An annual check is presented live on the Pittsburgh radio station Wish 99.7FM each year in December. Since 1995, PITT OHIO employees have donated over $474,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In addition to our employees’ annual monetary donation, PITT OHIO also moves the organization's wishing well and various items during their two week-long Holiday Campaign in December.

Polar Plunge

PITT OHIO has been supporting the Special Olympics for many years. Their polar plunges across the state of Pennsylvania are their largest fundraisers, used to raise money for the Special Olympic Athletes. Long before we formed our own PITT OHIO Plunge Team, Vice President of Operations Brad Caven has led a team of volunteers who join him at the Plunge each year to grill up and serve burgers and hot sausage for the brave plungers.

Through sponsorship and employee donations, PITT OHIO has donated over $189,000 to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
