Pittsburgh, PA (February 17, 2023) - PITT OHIO, a leader in transportation, warehouse and logistics services, announced today the relocation of its Roanoke, Virginia motor freight terminal to a larger, renovated facility.   

The renovated facility is 28,375 square feet and is located on the same road as its previous terminal location.  

“We are excited about our new location in Roanoke,” said Vice President of Operations, Brad Caven.  “With the increase in dock doors, our customers gain more capacity and we are better able to service their needs in the Virginia market.”

As a sustainability leader, PITT OHIO takes steps towards a greener tomorrow by implementing and retrofitting green practices where possible to achieve its sustainability goals.  Integral to this green building sustainability strategy is a goal to promote the construction and maintenance of buildings that are environmentally responsible, efficient and healthy places to work.

The renovated 21,675 square foot terminal is equipped with 62 dock doors, an increase of 25 from its previous location.  LED Lighting, plumbing systems including waterless urinals were added.  For employee safety and comfort on the dock, PITT OHIO added directional fans and electric forklifts including 7 charging stations.  Electric forklifts are quieter and healthier for employees because they do not emit carbon.   

The 4,200 square foot, three-bay maintenance shop was completely renovated.  New LED lighting, plumbing systems and HVAC systems including suspended, high velocity fans in the shop area were added.  A new garage door was installed to provide ease of access and an exterior open bay was renovated to function as a wash bay. 

PITT OHIO added a new fuel island adjacent to the shop.  The new fuel island includes a 20,000 fuel tank and a canopy to protect drivers from weather.  PITT OHIO also added underground storage for the diesel
exhaust fluid (DEF), which is a liquid used to reduce the amount of air pollution created by a diesel engine. PITT OHIO is able to maintain cool temperatures in both winter and summer with underground DEF storage. Underground tanks are safe and secure from harsh weather conditions. 

The 2,500 office has all new HVAC systems, plumbing systems, including water-less urinals, and LED lighting systems.  PITT OHIO created a new driver’s room, locker room, and office space for dispatch, management and support staff. 

The new address will be 1712 Plantation Road Northeast, less than .5 miles from its previous location.
